The no caffeine headache is gone!
3 days people. That’s what it takes to get rid of the effects of the caffeine coursing through your veins.
You see, caffeine is a potent vaso constrictor meaning it restricts blood flow through your blood vessels and when the caffeine leaves your system your blood vessels become more dilated causing the blood to flow more freely – this is where the headache comes in. (Thank you Human Physiology Class!)
I guess the biggest thing I realized is how much caffeine in the form of my very strong morning coffee I have actually been consuming.
I’m planning to move to herbal teas and then eventually getting my caffeine from one cup of coffee per day and some green tea here and there. I think a bit of caffeine every day is good for you but I was definitely over doing it.
Other than that I really feel great today! I feel lighter as if my body is really finally rid of all that holiday binging. This week has been pretty boring as far as eats go, and I definitely plan to experiment with some new vegan recipes this month, but for now I’m having high quality cereal for breakfast with almond milk, lunches consisting of my hummus and avocado sandwiches, and leftover soup. Tonight for dinner I had Mama Pea’s Tempeh Tamale Pie! Yum! Its definitely a kid friendly food too – your family won’t miss the meat!
I even went for a run.
Ok, it was a run walk.
But after not running for two months and being extremly burned out before that, I’ll take it.
What about you? How are your New Years Resolutions and decisions to live healthier going? Don’t give up!
